Split King Sheets
Meeting Halfway with Split King Sheets: Your
sheet is yours and my sheet is mine!
Split king beds are relatively fresh
innovations in the bedding industry. As such, people have
had difficulty looking for the appropriate split king sheets
they need. Also known as the dual king bed, a split king bed
has the same dimensions as those of a regular king bed.
The basic difference is that the split
king bed consists of two separate mattresses, each measuring
38 inches wide and 80 inches long, while a regular king bed
is composed of just one piece of large mattress.
Split King Sheets: Separate Yet Still
Together
As times change, people's needs and levels
of satisfaction also change. Even long time bed partners
develop their own sleeping habits and preferences. For
instance, in a regular king bed, one partner may be a sound
sleeper while the other may toss and turn, causing the other
side to also move and disturbing the former.
One partner may prefer a soft mattress while
the other may want a firmer one. Because of certain health
conditions, one partner may need a therapeutic bed, which
may not be appealing to the other. While a compromise can be
reached, both partners may still end up dissatisfied.
With the advent of the split king bed, many
of these concerns were addressed. Both occupants of the bed
can now enjoy a relaxing sleep without compromising each
other's needs and comfort. Sleepless nights, back pains, and
even crankiness are now things of the past.
Where To
Shop For Split King Sheets
Regrettably, as split king beds are quite
new in the market, split king sheets that suit
one's needs are still hard to come by. Even the major
retailers carry limited lines. Some specialty linen shops,
however, do offer custom-made bed sheets. Split king sheets
normally come as a set: one flat top sheet, two fitted
sheets, and two pillow cases.
Have you ever realized that you spend more
time in your sheets than in your favorite dress? With about
2,920 sleeping hours every year in your bed if you sleep
eight hours a night, not to mention time consumed on other
things you can do like reading or simply relaxing, it is but
fitting to love your split king bed and pamper it with
gorgeous but functional split king sheets.
A variety of color, style, and material
options for split king sheets are now
available in some linen shops. The romantics can surround
themselves in luxury with poly-satin, bridal, and silk
sheets.
More practical-minded people may choose 100 percent
cotton sheets because they are more durable, breathable, and
affordable. Soft flannel sheets are good in winter while
polyester sheets are wrinkle-free. To help maintain
good-looking sheets, you should maintain several sheets and use
them alternately for shorter periods. Longer use may contribute
to faster wear and tear and a shorter life span for your
sheets.
Before going to the store to shop for fitted
sheets, be sure to measure the depth of your mattress. Then
simply add two to three inches to get your optimum pocket
depth. A pocket size that is smaller than your mattress may
cause the elastic edges to come off while a larger size may
loosen after each use.
